This game was the first game I created for my final year project. I started out with the idea of my project 'UI Focused Games Development'. The aim was to incorperate UI into games in multitudes of different ways and show that it is an important part of games via creating short game demos.

 

The first game I wanted to create was a game with no overlayed UI but what would be displayed normally on an overlay was used as the game mechanics and displayed within the gameplay.

 

 

The Basics

A basic fighter, two player with Xbox controllers on PC. 

 

You start with a sword which also represents your health bar. When you get hit by the opponent you lose health and therefore your sword will shrink. 

 

You must win three rounds to win the game. The game resets a short time after you win, its a continuous fighting game.

 

Features

Your sword is your health bar and your rounds are displayed on your characters texture / outfit,

 

When you get to half health, your sword will split into two and you will have two daggers to fight with instead. Your speed will slightly increase and your attacks will be faster but do less damage. 

 

When you have taken more damage and have 25% of your health left, you are left with only one dagger. This dagger attacks faster than the previous two and does a little more damage as you only have one weapon. Your speed is also increased again. 

 

This makes it a more fair fight as your opponent may have a weapon that does more damage but it will be slower and you should be able to dodge some of their attacks.
